Next up, I’m be reading the third book in the Red Sparrow trilogy by Jason Matthews. This is a difficult book, with lots of Russian, and some Turkish, Portuguese, French, and even some Swahili. A very hard-nosed, sexy spy thriller that pulls no punches.
A fantasy novel, with intrigue and interesting characters.
This book, titled The Republic for Which it Stands: The United States During Reconstruction and the Gilded Age, 1865-1896, is difficult because of the subject matter. It is an unflinching look at the difficult transitions faced after the Civil War, the incredible mistreatment of many people, including Blacks, Indians, Chinese, wage laborers, immigrants, and others. A sobering yet valuable exploration of American history.
